Summary
The Civil Concrete Technician works closely with the Foreman to assist in pouring foundations, grounding and performing maintenance area surrounding towers.
Key Responsibilities
· Values safety over and above all other considerations
Mixing, pouring, spreading, and smoothening concrete
· Experience with using wire mesh to reinforce the concrete
Demo worksites and prepare them for new concrete pour or placement
· Mold expansion joints and edges
Reviewing and conducting repairs/restoration of concrete structures
· Assist in grounding, fastening, proper bolting and antioxidant use, support of leads, cadwelding as required, etc.
· Assist on overall job including groundwork, all tasks required to build and install a site per customer specs, maintain safe work environment, daily use and completion of JSA forms, assisting with overall crew work, maintenance of vehicles and equipment, etc.
· Working knowledge of drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.
Physical Demands
· Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs. including body weight, equipment, tools and boxes
· Must be willing to travel out of market/state, for up to several weeks at a time (50 – 90%)
· Must pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing.
· May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
· Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
Minimum Qualifications
· Ability to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.
· Ability to operate different types of equipment such as backhoe, forklift, electrical and hand tools
· Successful completion of industrial first aid and rescue training
· Must be able to work in a team environment on the crew and be a valued member of the team and the company.
· Communicate in person, by phone and radio with supervisor, foreman and co-workers
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with a typical work schedule of Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with overtime requirements
Travel
Extensive travel is required for this position. Usually between 50 to 90% of the time.
Required Education and Experience
· High School diploma or general education degree (GED); related trade school education preferred
· 1 to 3 years of experience working on a tower construction crew
· Demonstrated ability to work with construction crew to complete project
