Location:

• Primary Location: Richmond, VA area

• Travel Required: Extensive weekly travel within the United States with occasional travel requiring time away from home for up to two weeks at a time.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Microwave Radio Technician to join our dynamic team. This role will involve the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of microwave communication systems, with a specific focus on IP networking.

Key Responsibilities:

• Microwave System Installation & Maintenance:

o Install, configure, and maintain microwave communication systems and associated equipment.

o Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on microwave links and related systems.

o Ensure that all equipment is up to date and operating to specifications.

• IP Networking & Configuration:

o Provide support in IP networking, including configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of IP protocols.

o Collaborate with the engineering team to design and implement network solutions as required.

• Travel & Field Operations:

o Travel to customer sites, performing installations, testing, and maintenance as necessary.

o Home most weekends

• Documentation & Reporting:

o Maintain accurate records of all installation and maintenance activities.

o Generate detailed reports for completed work, including any issues encountered and solutions implemented.

• Safety & Compliance:

o Ensure all work is completed following company safety standards and federal regulations.

o Keep up-to-date with industry standards and best practices for microwave systems and networking.

Qualifications:

Certifications & Experience:

o Nokia and Aviat manufacturer certifications preferred

o Strong understanding of IP networking and network configurations.

o Experience in microwave radio installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

o Experience working with network systems, routers, switches, and network cabling.

• Technical Skills:

o Hands-on experience with microwave communication equipment (Nokia, Aviat, or similar).

o Familiarity with tools and equipment used in the installation and maintenance of microwave and IP networks.

o Ability to interpret technical manuals and documentation.

• Soft Skills:

o Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

o Excellent communication and customer service skills.

o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

o Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Working Conditions:

• Travel required

• Ability to work in varied environments, including remote sites.

• Some overnight stays and long hours may be required.
